The first day of April is all about pulling pranks, jokes, and hoaxes. April Fools Day dates back for 100’s of years and is celebrated all over the world. One over-the-top April Fool’s hoax happened in 1996 when Taco Bell took out a full-page newspaper ad announcing they had bought the Liberty Bell. They said they were going to call it the “Taco Liberty Bell.” Hundreds of outraged people called the National Historic Park in Philadelphia to express their outrage. They calmed down a bit when they discovered it was just an April Fool’s prank.
Something that seems foolish to people who don’t believe in Jesus is how God made a way for anyone to be saved by sending His one and only Son to give His life on a cross. He did this to pay the price for your sin and mine so that we could be forgiven and be a part of God’s forever family.
A lot of people say that sounds foolish. But God’s Word says, The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. (1 Corinthians 1:18)
The message of The Connection Church is so simple that anyone can understand it. At the same time, people wonder how it’s possible that what Jesus did 2000 years ago could make a difference in their lives today.
They may think the truth of God is foolish, but we know that we are all sinners in need of a Savior. It really is that simple.
At The Connection Church, we teach about many different topics and issues. We talk about family, friendship, faith, and finances, but at the core of everything we teach and do is one central truth: everyone needs Jesus!
If these past few weeks have shown us anything, it’s that our power is not in the messenger or the lights or any of our talent. Our power is in the message of Jesus. In fact, the truth that God chooses to use us is proof that God can do anything.
There is only one thing with enough power to change our hearts and lives from the inside out and save us from our sin—the Good News of Jesus. The methods may change but our message will never change: We all need Jesus. That’s the message our world desperately needs to hear today.
